Fight Over E15 Continues: What Does it Mean for Car Business?
2013-08-27 00:14:26| AutomotiveDigest.com - Automotive Industry News
Theres another fight in Washington over whether retail gasoline stations should have 15% percent ethanol blend in the gasoline they sell, or if it should stay at 10% or E10. The Federal Trade Commission is looking into assertions by 2 US senators that oil companies are pushing retail gas stations to block consumers from pumping up E15 gasoline. Oil companies and refineries say its all a big distraction over looking at the real issue that the 2007 renewable fuel standard should be gotten rid of. They say it will drive up the cost of gasoline theres not enough ethanol being made to go from E10 to E15 and it will get expensive to deliver. Oil companies and automakers continue to express disdain over E15s potential corrosive harm on engines and powertrains, too. Ethanol producers and corn growers are fighting back. Find out by clicking here what some of the arguments are on these issues. If E15 makes it to thousands of gas stations, what might that mean for those selling cars? The Article Fight Over E15 Continues: What Does it Mean for Car Business? appeared first on Automotive Digest.

Is E15 Going Away? Not for Now Says US Supreme Court
2013-06-30 21:45:40| AutomotiveDigest.com - Automotive Industry News
The US Supreme Court has decided that it wont be hearing appeals on a federal appellate court decision upholding the Environmental Protection Agencys push toward having gasoline go from 10% ethanol blend to 15%. That isnt going over too well with several automakers, fuel companies, and as few car buffs. Chrysler hasnt approved E15 on current vehicles, and other automakers are making decisions on whether E15 will void the warranty on the car. As for now, the Supreme Court is allowing this decision to stand. It doesnt mean the issue is settled completely; sometimes these types of court cases take another form. E15 may cause more corrosion and other damage to engines and fuel systems than E10. Thats brought out the objections expressed by automakers.
