A Dallas nurse who survived Ebola has a new engagement ring to replace the one destroyed as part of decontamination of her apartment. WFAA-TV reports Amber Vinson and fiance Derrick Markray on Tuesday picked out a ring, at no charge, from Zale Corp. A spokesman for Dallas-based Zale, Chris Nieto, says the company wanted to step up and get Vinson something that helps celebrate her life and express love.

U.S. heightens Ebola screening for travelers from Mali

The United States is adding Mali to the list of countries whose travelers get special Ebola screening after a number of cases in the West African nation, the government said on Sunday. Enhanced screening will start on Monday for the 15 to 20 travelers who arrive daily from Mali, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Department of Homeland Security said in a statement.

Philadelphia biotech firm gets $3.5M NIH contract to study Ebola, hepatits C viruses

The National Institutes of Health awarded Integral Molecular Inc. a five-year, $3.5 million contract to study the human immune response to the Ebola virus and hepatitis C virus. The funding will enable the Philadelphia biotechnology company to better understand how human antibodies protect, or fail to protect, people against such viruses.
