US oil-worker union widens biggest plant strike since 1980

The USW, with members at more than 200 refineries, fuel terminals, pipelines and chemical plants across the US, asked workers at Motiva Enterprises LLC's Port Arthur refinery in Texas, the nation's largest, to join a nationwide walkout on Saturday, and issued notices for three other plants to go on strike in 24 hours. This brings the work stoppage - which began on Feb 1 at nine sites from California to Texas and expanded to two BP Plc refineries in the Midwest a week later - to 12 refineries and 3 other facilities.

Canadian National Railway Co said on Friday that barring a settlement by this weekend with Unifor, a union that represents 4,800 of its mechanical, clerical and intermodal staff, it plans to begin to lock out employees on Monday. In a post on its official Twitter account, the union called for CN Rail to "get back to the bargaining table," while the company responded on the social media platform by urging "union leadership to sit down & negotiate a deal this weekend."
Hawaiian Airlines won't give bonuses to IAM union members

Hawaiian Airlines will not be handing out 2014 bonuses to its clerical, office, stores, fleet and passenger service employees because it has not agreed to a collective bargaining agreement yet - an eligibility requirement stated in its most recent contract. International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers District 141 members covered by the Hawaiian Airlines clerical agreement will not be eligible to share in the profit distribution of 2015 for work in 2014, the union said on its website last Sunday.
