We are currently looking for a AIX System Software Engineer to support our customer in Germany. AIX System Software Engineer Key Tasks and Responsibilities As part of the Computer Systems Management Team, you will have the following responsibilities Installation and configuration of operating system and other software, tuning of operating systems parameters to optimize performance Analysis, planning and performance of HW and SW upgrades or reconfigurations, taking care of compatibility issues between subsystems Monitoring of the system performance, investigation into HW and system SW problems and performance of the relevant corrective actions Ensuring that in case of HW or system SW failures the operational configuration can be restored, including the definition, maintenance, performance of backup procedures Liaison with the external providers of HW and system SW maintenance for the request and follow up of maintenance interventions Administration and installation of databases, of user accounts Support to SW development and maintenance to the utilization of system resources Implementation and maintenance of scripts andor procedures, generation or update of technical documentation in relation to system upgrades Provision of standbyoncall support to critical operations. Skills Experience You will have the following qualifications and relevant experience Knowledge on IBM Systems AIX 6.1 7.1, on IBM pSeries, Bladecenters and PureFlex Systems experienced on IBM virtualization, including MicroPartitioning, LPAR, VIOS Administration and configuration of IBM pSeries, Bladecenters and PureFlex Systems using HMC and AMM High availability software IBM PowerHA and cluster file system GPFS Ability to perform endtoend system changes from requirements to testing and documentation Good experience with the monitoring tool Nagios Ability to write technical documentation in English Fluency in English is mandatory knowledge of another European language is an advantage.
