This post is for a limited duration of two years and is classified in the A2A4 grade band of the Coordinated Organisations salary scale. LOCATION ESOC, Darmstadt Germany with resident assignment in Redu Belgium. DUTIES The postholder will initially report directly to the Head of Office during the development phase, subsequently to the Head of Tertiary Education Unit during the implementation phase. In line with ESAs education policyobjectives and in close cooperation with the other Education Office areas, specific duties will include the following in close coordination with European academic institutions, in liaison with the relevant ESA departments and whenever possible in partnership with the European space industry and other parties, develop a portfolio of training sessions residential lectures, conferences, workshops, programme of visiting lectures by ESA staff for university students in areas of expertise covered by ESA space science, engineering, technology, applications, project management, mission design analysis, operations, quality assurance, standards, etc. establish, organise and promote the training programme organise the related logistics prepare and manage the dedicated budget once established, organise the training sessions at the local Concurrent Design Facility manage the programme and scheduling in liaison with the Head of Security Office notably monitor the development of the temporary infrastructure to host the Training Learning Centre ensure transfer to final building transfer ones expertise to participating European university students appropriately lecture in ones field of expertise contribute to developing the tertiary education strategy and stimulate cooperation with Member and Cooperating States on universitylevel education activities actively contribute to the Offices awarenessraising, communication and outreach activities. QUALIFICATIONS Applicants for this post should have a PhD degree in engineering or science and a broad knowledge of space activities. Candidates are expected to demonstrate strong interest in education activities in the field of science and technology in general. Previous experience of education project management is essential. Applicants should have good interpersonal, communication and negotiating skills. They should have the ability to work autonomously, efficiently and in a cooperative spirit in a diverse and international environment. Candidates should also have good analytical, organisational and reporting skills and a proactive attitude to problemsolving. The working languages of the Agency are English and French. A good knowledge of one of these two languages is required together with a working knowledge of the other language. Knowledge of another member state language is an asset. In accordance with the European Space Agencys security procedures and as part of the selection process, successful candidates will be required to undergo basic screening before appointment.
