Apple buys social-media analytics firm Topsy Labs

(Telecompaper) Apple has acquired social-media analytics firm Topsy Labs for more than USD 200 million, reports the Wall Street Journal citing unnamed sources familiar with the matter. Topsy specializes in analysing the global conversations on Twitter, and has had access to full stream of tweets since 2006, which now reach around 500 million a day. A spokesperson for Apple confirmed the deal but declined to provide further details.
