Apple unveils Apple Music streaming service, Beats1 station

2015-06-08 22:53:00| Telecompaper Headlines

(Telecompaper) Apple unveiled its highly anticipated Apple Music subscription streaming service at WWDC15. The service will be available on Apple devices starting on 30 June. The company will offer a free membership for 3 months, after which the service will cost USD 9.99 a month. A family plan for up to six family members will cost USD 14.99 a month. TechCrunch writes that the new service is likely to offer big advantages over the competition, including native integration with the Apple Music iOS9 app. It will offer curated playlists, special collections curated by top artists, and the Connect service that pulls social media content into a single portal and allows listeners to connect with artists. Apple Music will also include Beats1, described by Apple's Jimmy Iovine as the world's first 24/7 radio station. The internet radio station will broadcast the same content worldwide, using live DJs located in New York City, Los Angeles and London.
