Bistatic SAR Mission Engineer

For one of our main customers ESAESTEC, we are currently looking for a Bistatic SAR Mission Engineer to provide support to EOP Future Missions Division to follow the developments in the following activities and parallel studies, which mainly consist of planning of L and Cband bistatic SAR missions including mission scenarios definition, mission acquisition optimisation and implications at system level, e.g. regarding operations and ground segment System engineering support at platform, payload and mission level Support to the development of versatile platforms for convoy missions in the range of 500 kg max. with 150 kg payload. Tasks and Responsibilities Mission planning and mission definition Description of the support activities The Contractor shall provide support in the mission planning definition of and Cband bistatic mission by Updating and improving the internal mission planning tool. Coordinating inputs from scientific institution and external entities Maximizing by optimisation the scientific acquisition Provide feedback from mission optimisation to the spacecraft and mission design Support to system engineering Description of the support activities The Contractor shall first support the payload and platform system engineering of current activities on bistatic companion satellites and provide his inputs for the system engineering activities. It is also required that contractor takes a proactive role in the definition of payloadplatformlauncher interfaces. More specifically the contractor shall Maintain and crosscheck all systems budget. Coordinate, maintain and secure coherent interfaces between payloadplatform and launcher Maintain relevant requirements Perform system level analysis and designs Maintain and followup resolution of actions at system level derived from industrial contracts Coordinate technical inputs from external entities, outputs from industrial contracts and ESA internal support Review tasks in the framework of industrial activities Support in the definition of a generic 500 kgclass platform Description of the support activities The Contractor shall support the activities related to definition on a generic 500 kgclass platform suited to different payloads and capable of flying in close formation with a larger satellite. More specifically the contractor shall Maintain and crosscheck system track of all platform systems budgets. Coordinate, maintain and secure the definition of a set of interfaces between payloadplatform and launcher Maintain relevant platform requirements Perform system level analysis and designs Coordinate technical inputs from external entities, outputs from industrial contracts and ESA internal support Review tasks in the framework of industrial activities Perform configuration assessments Perform platform system designs Experience and Education Relevant Academic background with University degree in engineering and a minimum of 4 years working experience in the field Good communication and technical writing skills Good organisation skills Methodical and proactive General knowledge of ESA EOP missions, in particular SAR mission. Knowledge on SAR payloads and SAR performance will be a strong asset. Experience of daytoday contact with international experts and partners in the field. Capability to coordinate a large amount of inputs Capability to synthesise, summarise and take conclusions A proactive approach, with initiative and capability to work independently Problemsolving oriented attitude Experience in mission analysis and system engineering in general. Experience in system engineering on SAR mission is an asset.
