Ajilon Technology Aerospace is looking for a CDF System and Software Engineer E3 for an opportunity at the European Space Agency in the Netherlands Ajilon Technology Aerospace is a specialized Engineering consultancy with more than 30 years experience providing aerospace Engineers to our key partners in The Netherlands. Ajilon is a longstanding business partner of the European Space Agency ESA, with more than 100 employees recruited from across Europe currently supporting ESAs activities. General tasks to be performed The work covers System Engineering in all phases of spacecraft projects. A range of support tasks is required to be carried out by the Contractor in system engineering and subsystem domains, including early throughout implementation phases of space projects, in particular for small demonstration missions and education projects. This includes validation of design, support to implementation and testing phases, generation and monitoring of missionsystem level specifications. The Contractor shall perform the following tasks Maintain interfaces with the prime contractors. Participate in progress meetings and reviews, as requested, and provide appropriate feedback on the achieved progress and results. When supporting projects, heshe shall interface with ESAs project teams, the prime and lower level contractors. Educational of System Engineering tools and models. Provide support to technical coordination activities. The contractor will provide system engineering support to the Galileo System and Platform activities, reporting to the Galileo Space Segment Infrastructure Manager. This includes support to Satellite Qualification and Acceptance for launch as well as In Orbit Infrastructure and Operations. Specific tasks to be performed The post holder will contribute in particular to the following areas Participation to Satellite Acceptance Reviews, Flight Readiness Reviews, Launch Readiness Reviews Operations Reviews etc.. Participation to the Platform Commissioning Phases of the Galileo FOC Satellites Participation to the In Orbit Testing Phases of the Galileo FOC Satellites and coordination of Payload Specialist Support Support to the resolution of Inflight Payload anomalies of all Galileo Satellites in Orbit including participation to, and preparation for, relevant NRBs and ARBs Assistance in the resolution of anomalies between the systemground segmentoperations interface to Payload Units of Galileo satellites in Orbit including participation to, and preparation for, relevant NRBs and ARBs Support to In Orbit Maintenance activities including preparation and implementation of changes Monitoring and identification of trends of critical Galileo Satellite parameters To successfully perform the above mentioned tasks, the following background experience is required Expert knowledge of SC system and mission design, incl. system design modelling tools and Concurrent Engineering applied to space mission assessment and design. Knowledge of System of Systems SoS architecting and related tools such as System Architect, Focal Point, etc. and frameworks e.g. MODAF, TOGAF. Knowledge and practice in the application of ESA SE Standards e.g. ECSSE10 series and SW engineering. The candidate shall have a good knowledge and proven experience in spacecraft systems in project phases and in particular late and operational phases, as well as in mission design and analysis. The candidate shall have demonstrated capabilities to work in space projects with complex technical and industrial interfaces. A minimum of 3 years experience in satellite activities and more specifically in satellite system activities. The position involves some travel, mainly within Europe. Applicants must be eligible to obtain security clearance by their national security administration. Being already in possession of security clearance will be considered an asset for the selection. About ESAESTEC The European Space Agency ESA has sites in several European countries. The European Space Research and Technology Centre ESTEC is the largest site and the technical heart of ESA. This nursery of European space activities is located in Noordwijk, Netherlands. At ESTEC, about 2500 engineers, technicians and scientists work handson with mission design, spacecraft and space technology. Almost all ESA projects except launchers are managed from ESTEC. In Noordwijk, people work on science missions, manned space missions, Earth observation, telecommunications and navigation satellites. ESTEC provides extensive testing facilities to verify the proper operation of spacecraft, such as the Large Space Simulator LSS, acoustic and electromagnetic testing bays, multiaxis vibration tables and the ESA Propulsion Laboratory EPL.
