Chinese Government Suspends Cyanide-Gold Plating Ban

On September 23, 2013, NDRC of China issued circular postponing implementation of regulation that would have eliminated cyanide-gold plating at end of 2014. IPC staff and its members in USA and China, along with China Printed Circuits Association and other industry associations, were influential in this decision. In its notice, NDRC cited importance of gold plating materials, worldwide use of cyanide-gold plating processes, and concerns regarding gold potassium citrate plating processes.
