Clear the Air Foundation, started last year by the Colorado Automobile Dealers Association and the ReForest Colorado tree-planting group has seen some success in its program started last year.
Most of these were trade-ins at Colorado new car dealers, who offered incentives to customers who typically shy away from a deal unless they get something in return. Like Cash for Clunkers, its been good for sales.
These clunkers dont end up back on the roads theyre destroyed and suitable metals are recycled, and their smaller components are being sold.
Some of this has been carried out by members of Colorado Auto Recyclers, whose member pay for the donated cars. This is helping the program continue and be self-sustaining. Clear the Air Foundation appeals to need for removing old clunkers from roads and offering contribution for state residents wanting to see more positive environmental outcome three more planted trees.
