Applications from women are encouraged. Post Copernicus Ground Segment Engineer This post is classified A2A4 on the Coordinated Organisations salary scale. Location ESRIN, Frascati, Italy Description Copernicus Ground Segment Service Engineer, Copernicus Ground Segment Operation Services Section, Copernicus Ground Segment Data Management Division, Mission Management Ground Segments Department, Directorate of Earth Observation Programmes. As part of the ESA team responsible for Copernicus Space Component Ground Segment operations, the postholder will participate in the preparation and followup of activities associated with that Segments operations, maintenance and adaptation. Duties The main duties will be contributing to activities necessary to operate, maintain and develop the Copernicus Space Component mission data flows, ensuring endtoend operations performance and robustness contributing to activities related to the definition, industrial implementation and verification of the transition of Copernicus Ground Segment operational systems to a cloud architecture contributing to reengineering data production software activities for adaptation to a cloud environment managing the relevant procurements, from invitation to tender to contract kickoff and contract execution phase contributing to management of collaborative Ground Segment technical agreements and operational interfaces contributing to management of Ground Segment technical operational interfaces with international partners contributing to reporting and risk management of Space Component operations in relation to activities performed under own responsibility. Technical competencies Experience in design, development and maintenance of EO Ground Segment Systems and Operations Experience in architecting scalable and distributed systems for big data operations Experience in cloud computing technologies Experience with satellite payload data processing and data management operations Behavioural competencies Communication Planning Organisation Problem Solving Teamwork Innovation Creativity Education Applicants should have a Masters degree or equivalent qualification in engineering or Earth data science together with 5 to 10 years experience in space mission engineering and operations. Additional requirements Candidates should have strong problemsolving skills to deal with daytoday operational challenges, together with demonstrated planning and organisational skills the ability to manage challenging situations proactively and constructively and be customer focused. good interpersonal skills and proven ability to apply these to interactions within a team and across teams in an international environment Five to ten years proven experience in one of the mentioned areas, experience in other areas being considered an asset. A good knowledge of one of these is required. Knowledge of another Member State language would be an asset. The Agency may require applicants to undergo selection tests.
