Most currencies of low-income countries have dropped against the US dollar in May, with the Chinese renminbi falling 2.5% and the Pak. rupee even plunging by 4.5%. No less importantly, the pound has lost nearly 3% over current Brexit anxieties whereas the euro was staying at a very low level. With the Trump adiministration possibly raising import tariffs in coming weeks, the global textile supply chain should continue suffering in the months ahead. Our monthly statistical report covers the past two years and displays a comprehensive view of currency values against the US dollar but also v. the euro, the British pound, the Indian and Pak rupees, and the Chinese renminbi over a 2-year period.
