Deutsche Telekom confirms new broadband data limits

2013-04-22 16:59:00| Telecompaper Headlines

(Telecompaper) Deutsche Telekom has confirmed plans to introduce data limits for its fixed-line internet connections. These limits will apply to new Call&Surf and Entertain customers, with speeds reduced to 384 kbps once their threshold has been reached. The move is in response to soaring data demand. On average, Telekom's fixed-line broadband customers use 15-20 GB. The smallest integrated data allowance will be 75 GB. As well as web surfing and sending e-mails, this volume would be sufficient to view 10 films in SD and three in HD, 60 hours of internet radio, 400 photos and 16 hours online gaming. From 02 May, Telekom will include 75 GB of data with tariffs up to 16 Mbps, 200 GB up to 50 Mbps, 300 GB up to 100 Mbps and 400 GB with tariffs up to 200 Mbps. The use of Telekom's Entertain IPTV service will not be included in the allocated data allowance.
