LTE services are becoming a reality in the Dutch market, with nationwide coverage expected by the second half of 2014. KPN is the first to launch LTE services using lower band spectrum, with speeds up to ten times faster than current 3G networks. As operators start on their roll-outs, important questions include: what is the Dutch consumer's perception of 4G? Do they want/need faster mobile networks? Are they willing to pay more for 4G services? Will they want to purchase a new mobile phone to access 4G?
This research brief focuses on answering these questions, based on responses from Telecompaper's Consumer Panel. The survey was conducted in January 2013, and the question on the need for faster networks is also compared to findings a year earlier.
This research brief also includes a breakdown of the survey results according to smartphone and non-smartphone users, young versus older people, men versus women and educational background.
