This vacancy note concerns an onsite consulting position at ESTEC in Noordwijk in The Netherlands. EGSE Electrical Ground Support Equipment Software Engineer 1311070 Job Description The selected engineer will be assigned to the System Modelling and Functional Verification Section of the Software Systems Division. The task will initially be focused in the context of ESA projects on the verification of spacecraft monitoring and control data delivered by the Primes for use by Ground Segment and Operations. In the medium term, the support will extend to the area of system database SW development, including support to the divisional reference facility. The engineer will provide on demand expertise in activities related to space system database software production. This includes the following tasks Providing technical support to projects on specific issues related to space system database software development including software problem solving, exchange and interfaces with external systems, project reviews. Support for the Space System Database reference facility using in conjunction with the EGSE reference facility, including isolating and fixing software problems. Integrating industrial elements in the EGSE reference facility and verifying their functioning in end to end scenarios. Developing and performing end to end verification and validation tests including e.g. populating EGSE reference facility database, developing test procedures. Identifying, isolating and fixing software problems. Maintaining an EGSE software libraryconfiguration managementlab website. Required Skills and Experience University degree in electronic engineering, space systems engineering, computer science, mathematics or equivalent. Practical experience of working in AIT or operations with issues related to monitoring and control of space systems Experience in the engineering of complex software systems involving DBMS tools Knowledge of Space Systems and their constituting elements is necessary Knowledge of relational databases and tools and SQL, in particular an Oracle environment e.g. Database Server, Oracle WebLogic Server, etc. Operational experience with SCOS 2000 and the SCOS 2000 MIB ICD Experience with the PUS and its tailoring Experience with Data Verification and Validation Knowledge of the Database Software Life Cycle Knowledge of Conceptual Data Modelling Ability to work independently and to establish good working relations with ESA and industrial counterparts Work Location Noordwijk, Netherlands Dates Application Deadline 23 August 2013 Start of Work 01 November 2013 Important Notes Before applying to this position, please read the page Notes to Applicants on the Solenix website under Career.
