Moreover, we actively manage your professional development, training and career progression. For our project in Noordwijk in the Netherlands we are looking for an EGSE Software Engineer fm at ESTEC. Tasks The work covers the areas of Electrical Ground Support Equipment EGSE, databases, simulation benches, including those used in software validation facilities and spacecraft AIT, ground data processing systems and ground facilities software in general Modelling of systems including spacecraft, ground segment and other required auxiliary systems Elaboration, development and promotion of tools for distributed and collaborative engineering Support for mission simulation, science operations planning and scheduling and experiment operations verification Elaboration, development and promotion of the concept of generic simulation testbeds such as ATB, applicable for different projects, including preparation and promotion of relevant standards Realtime simulation infrastructure and tools based on different platforms, including LINUX environments. This infrastructure can support both hardwareintheloop and manintheloop simulation. Support to ESA project teams in activities related to the procurement of EGSE for space systems, subsystems and instruments including preparation of requirement specifications, monitoring of industrial activities, acceptance of industrial products and participation in project reviews Support to ESA project teams in activities related to the development of space system database software and utilization including support to specification, architecture, implementation, software problem solving, exchange and interfaces with external systems, data modelling verification of consistency and completeness of data, compliance with technical documentation, project reviews Visualisation and graphical user interaction on different levels, including MMI design, parameter visualization, and up to highend 3D realtime, interactive and immersive visualisation systems, also known as Virtual Reality VR simulation. Develop, integrate and maintain VR applications and the related technology. Maintenance of the EGSESCOS based reference facility and Space System Database reference facility to support prototyping of new technology standards validation and evaluation of industrial methods and tools Participation in the definition of standards for ground system and operations, electrical test facilities and modelling and simulation in the context of ECSS and ESA internal standardisation The postholder will be assigned to the System Modelling and Functional Verification Section of the Software Systems Division. The task will initially be focused in the context of ESA projects on the verification of spacecraft monitoring and control data delivered by the Primes for use by Ground Segment and Operations. In the medium term, the support will extend to the area of system database SW development, including support to the divisional reference facility. The tasks include Support SGEO, GAL, MTG, ESMO projects in the area of EGSE procurement Integrating industrial elements in the EGSE reference facility and verifying their functioning in end to end scenarios Developing and performing end to end verification and validation tests including e.g. populating EGSE reference facility database, developing test procedures Identifying, isolating and fixing software problems Maintaining an EGSE software libraryconfiguration managementlab website Providing technical support to projects on specific issues related to EGSEs and their utilisation including solving problems Evaluate needs and generate requirements for enhancements Support for the Space System Database reference facility using in conjunction with the EGSE reference facility, including isolating and fixing software problems Technical support to projects on specific issues related to space system database software development including software problem solving, exchange and interfaces with external systems, project reviews Essential requirements For the accomplishment of the listed tasks, knowledge and experience of the following is mandatory A University Degree in Electronic Engineering, Space Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics or equivalent Practical experience of working in AIT or operations with issues related to monitoring and control of space systems Experience in the engineering of complex software systems involving DBMS tools Knowledge of Space Systems and their constituting elements, and Space System Engineering Several years of relevant experience within software engineering, software design and configuration control methods, tools and standards Knowledge of realtime software and Object Oriented design methods, databases and most common operating system Windows, Corba, Linux, Unix, etc Knowledge and experience in most common programming languages in particular C, C, FORTRAN, Java, databases ORACLE, ACCESS, MySQL, ER, etc.. Knowledge of relational databases and tools and SQL, in particular an Oracle environment e.g. Database Server, Oracle WebLogic Server, etc. Operational experience with SCOS 2000 and the SCOS 2000 MIB ICD Experience with the PUS and its tailoring Experience with Data Verification and Validation Knowledge of the Database Software Life Cycle The ability to work independently and to establish good working relations with ESA and industrial counterparts is essential.
