Overview The candidate shall provide engineering support within the Technology Coordination Frequency Management Section EOPSFT of the Future Missions Division EOPSF of ESAs EOP Directorate. The role of the EOPSF Division is to prepare new Earth observation EO missions and technologies. The work includes the coordination of technology activities performed within ESA and the relevant technology requirements derived from the new concepts proposed for EO missions. This includes contributions to the definition, evaluation and followup of technology developments and their implication in terms of system performance, together with experts in the Division, in the rest of the EO Directorate and in the Technical and Quality Management Directorate DTEC. Additionally, phase 0 and phase A studies of new Earth Science and Earth Application missions are conducted in the Division. The Technology Coordination Section is responsible for the identification of technology requirements for future Earth Observation missions and contributes to the establishment of the EO strategy for technology development. A solid collaboration with the other divisions in the EO directorate and ESAs technical directorate is essential for this work. The principal tasks of the Technology Development Engineer will include support to the identification of the technology requirements for future Earth observations missions, including in support of European industries competitiveness providing support to technology developments for future Earth Observation missions, that are conducted in the technology coordination section support to ESAs technology harmonisation process support to missions under preparation through participation to reviews, assessment of industrial results maintaining and improving the Earth Observation technology database providing support to technology developments within the new and prospective ESA member states Poland, Romania, Hungary, Estonia and PECS countries The nature of the work requires a wide spectrum of knowledge in engineering physics with a natural inclination for learning and understanding new technologies. Specific qualification requirements University degree in Engineering or equivalent qualification A minimum of 3 years relevant professional experience post Degree Solid knowledge of techniques used in Earth Observation missions Solid background in satellite system and subsystem technologies Proficient in the English language Spoken and Written Good communication and technical writing skills Ability to work in a team and independently Problemsolving oriented attitude Experience in mission analysis and system engineering in general Legal and Security Requirements All applicants must be legally allowed to work in The Netherlands Applicants are required to provide a copy of their passport and degree certificate. Aurora will validate the Degree with the issuing University and provide evidence to ESA. Prior to issuing a letter of employment the applicant shall provide to Aurora a recent official document declaring that they are of good conduct from the country where currently resident. Location The work will be performed at the European Space Technology and Research Centre ESTEC at Noordwijk, The Netherlands. Contract The selected candidate will receive good remuneration. Will be registered for both social security and tax in the Netherlands. The standard working hours are 40 per week. There are 12 public holidays and an additional 30 annual days holiday. Training to improve efficiency and provide strength for future career are of course included. Aurora assist with relocation both with support and financially.
