Description of the job Airbus Space and Defence Intelligence is a leading provider of optical and SAR satellite imagery, geographic information products, software and services delivering geographic information solutions into both private and public sector organisations worldwide using Cloud and inhouse infrastructure. Specifically, Airbus Defence and Space UK provides high valueadded solutions including satellite data and geographical information acquisition and processing, operational emergency planning systems, geoinformation, geospatial data analytics, risk analysis, consultancy, data management and hosting. Due to a range of data and EO focused projects, we are looking for a skilled Earth Observation Architect to join a growing and evolving UK team of 20 people. This position is essential and key for Airbus growth in digital platforms and services in the EO data management and analytics domain. We are investing in new and exciting projects around the storage, management and dissemination of data and imagery, as well as value added services throughout the Earth Observation domain. You will be key in developing new services focusing on New data hosting infrastructure platforms, designed to maximise access to data and provide value to customers. Providing value from image data and assess how customers want to use data to enhance their business. The role comes with regular UK travel approx. once a month Tasks accountabilities Participate and contributing to the design and development of products and services portfolio, to ultimately deliver Intelligence and derive knowledge from data to enable effective decisionmaking by our customers. Capture and analyse stakeholder needs Develop and analyse system requirements Evaluate the feasibility of a technical solution with the chief engineer or members of the team Design, plan and model effective functional and physical system architecture including interfaces and how data is stored, managed, analysed, published and integrated with other services interfaces Develop rapid prototypes to validate technical solutions and approaches Support the software development team with the delivery of solutions Advise stakeholders in regards to system architecture, cloud architecture and RD to promote advanced EO data analytics and innovation Ability to understand the bigger picture and work closely with the business, architects, service managers and project manager as a team. Support new business development which will include technical lead role on bids and proposals. This job requires an awareness of any potential compliance risks and a commitment to act with integrity, as the foundation for the Companys success, reputation and sustainable growth. Required skills Strong experience in EO data and analytics, and how it relates to all aspect of softwaresystem design and infrastructure. Commercial experience in an EO data technical architecture and analytics role in industry. Experience with commercially or open source available EO data exploitation solutions. Experience of various sources of EO data, including open source satellite data, imagery, ESA, CubeSat satellite data. A solid knowledge of ground segments and satellite products specifications. A solid foundation and experience in EO data processing and integration with other types of data and systems as an enabler for datadriven decision making Intelligence, by collecting, transforming, analysing and visualizing data typically timeseries and imagery data. A solid foundation on software engineering including understanding of the software technology, architecture and how to design, develop, and manage robust, secure, scalable, highly available, and dynamic solutions and services. A solid foundation on cloud computing including understanding of the cloud technology, cloud architecture and services, and how to design, develop, and manage robust, secure, scalable, highly available, and dynamic solutions and services hosted in the cloud.
