A vacancy for an Electrooptics Detector Engineer CCD, CMOS andor Infrared mf has arisen within Airbus Defence Space in Toulouse. The Optical Instruments Division is currently responsible for numerous instrument developments the ALADIN lidar ESA and ATLID lidar ESA, the Sentinel 2 multispectral instrument MSI of observation developed by the European Copernicus GMES programme, as well as NAOMI earth observation instruments onboard micro and minisatellites. New significant developments have recently been launched or are about to be launched IASI NG instruments and Sentinel 5 and MetImage for the MetOp Second Generation mission. The MSIS2CD, Sentinel5 and METImage instruments are made up of infrared and visible channels on the S2CD and METImage instruments, the visible channel is ensured by a CMOS detector and on the Sentinel5 it is ensured by the CCDs. The infrared channels employ infrared detectors that use different technologies. For all of these detectors, the development is in progress. In addition, for the future Earth observation systems, solutions based on infrared or CMOS detectors that include new technologies are being studied. Significant RD investments have been made in this field and will lead to the development of prototypes in coming years. As part of the development of its optical instrument development activities, the Optical Instruments department of the Earth Observation Sciences division at Airbus Defence and Space France, based in Toulouse, you will be responsible for the definition of detectors and the followup of their development. You will be part of the optical instrument project technical team and in this respect you will be responsible for The architecture and technical definition of detectors and their performance, Interfacing with manufacturers developing detectors with whom you will establish and negotiate the test conditions and specifications which will enable you to meet the requirements of the instrument, Technical expertise for the project, enabling tradeoffs, technical and technological choices and followup of development and contribution to resolution of problems, Defining, implementing and following up upstream characterisations of detectors, the purpose of which is to check performance and optimise the implementation conditions. You will be involved in all the life phases of an instrument and will be part of the project teams during The proposal phases The design phases phase 0 and phase A The development phases B CD up to delivery of detectors. You will report directly to the HyperFrequency and ElectroOptical Detection department of the Airbus Defence and Space Optical Instruments division Space Systems business line and, depending on the phases, will be assigned to an instrument project group. This position will require occasional travel for business once a month in Europe, and, as such, you must be able to travel accordingly. As the successful candidate, you will be able to demonstrate some of the following competencies Qualified engineer Masters level degree or equivalent, ideally with basic training in microelectronics or optoelectronics, 3 years of experience developing CMOS, CCD andor infrared detectors, or with laboratory tests and studies on detectors, Ideally, initial experience with supplier followup in an industrial context, Good knowledge of the microelectronics field, specifically for optronics and detection technologies, Knowledge of space optics instrumentation and radiometry would be a plus, Good team player skills, Ability to lead multidisciplinary activities, Good sense of responsibility with regard to commitments and compliance with deadlines, Excellent grasp of physics, Analytical and summary skills, as well as skills in complex systems, Meticulousness and technical curiosity, Creativity and an interest in innovation, Excellent oral and written communication skills, Advanced level of English proficiency in French would be an asset.
