Encana Q3 profit jumps with gains from divestitures, operating income rises

Encana Corp. had a huge jump in net income in the third quarter, thanks to about $2.4 billion of gains on asset divestitures that were part of its strategic shift to focus more on crude oil and liquids-rich natural gas. Net income was $2.8 billion or $3.79 per share while operating earnings rose to $381 million or 38 cents per share.
