For one of our main customers ESAESTEC, we are currently looking for an Engineering Support to EOP Earth Observation Programme on Cold Atom Interferometry CAI for Future Missions to work in the Science, Applications and Future Technologies Department of ESA EOP Directorate. The role of the Future Missions Division EOPSF is to prepare the Earth observation EO missions and technologies of the future. The work carried out is mainly related to the endtoend definition of space missions, including orbits, instruments, platforms, endtoend performance, data flow, launcher interfaces, and ground processing to meet the observation requirements. Tasks and Responsibilities The contractor shall give support to EOP Future Missions Division to follow the developments in the above activities and parallel studies, which consist of the following Review TNs and actively participate to progress meetings related to ongoing CAI activities 3 ongoing1 starting mid2015 Support elaboration of Statement of Works for future CAI activities Investigate and propose parallel studies on CAI technology for space applications Perform internal studies to assess the results of external activities on CAI, including to define and maintain CAI systemlevel budgets and to perform performance studies. Support to monitoring EOP CAI studies The Contractor shall perform internal studies to assess the results of external activities on CAI, including to define and maintain CAI systemlevel budgets and to perform performance studies. Preparation on next activities planned. Up to present, four activities are planned for the realization of the CAI gradiometer. These will follow the ongoing activities at their completion. The Contractor shall contribute to the elaboration of the Statement of Works. The contractor will then support the monitoring of the execution of the activities. Investigation in CAI technology for space application. The Contractor shall investigate other applications of CAI for EOP purposes, implementing other concepts than gravity gradiometer. He shall support interactions with other ESA departments e.g. TECMM and SRES, national agencies and space industry in order to propose more reliable and compact CAI technology. Experience and Education The profile for the person to provide services considered for this vacancy is a research engineer with the following skills Relevant Academic background with University degree in engineering and a minimum of 4 years working experience in the field Good communication and technical writing skills Good organisation skills Methodical and proactive Good general knowledge of ESA EOP missions, and in particular of future gravity missions based on CAI technology Strong and demonstrated background in CAI technology, and in particular in laser systems and quantum sensors, and in its applications to space Experience of daytoday contact with international experts and partners in the field.
