Flight Dynamics Engineer J2655 Telespazio VEGA Deutschland has been supporting the European Space Industry for over 30 years, including ESA, DLR, CNES and EUMETSAT. Key objectives of this position include We are looking for a degree educated Engineer to support our customer in the Flight Dynamics operations of interplanetary satellites, in a multicultural environment, for the following missions Rosetta Venus Express Solo Development Exomars Development Mars Express SW Maintenance Responsibilities Duties The holder of this post will work within a multidisciplinary team supporting the operations of various space missions. The spacecraft missions that are to be supported are either already in operations or in their preparation phases. The activities therefore cover both routine and special operations as well as analysis and studies of missions in development. The tasks performed by the flight dynamics experts within their domain of expertise shall be in support of Spacecraft, mission, and ground segment design Flight Dynamics requirements definition Design and preparation of the flight dynamics system Software development typically on SUN workstations using FORTRAN and Mathematica Software development for computation of the dynamical behaviour of satellites Special analysis, e.g. in support of the spacecraft design or to resolve an anomaly Participation in design reviews, system tests, operations and oncall support Mission analysis and design studies to evaluate Flight Dynamics aspects Software migration, modernization and extension using modern software development languages and techniques Qualifications Experience University degree in Mathematics, Physics, Engineering or equivalent with high grades Software development Essential Skills Indepth familiarity with applied mathematics, especially vectormatrix algebra, and numerical integration techniques Sound knowledge of physics, especially mechanics Software development under UNIX SOLARIS Problem solving abilities Proven ability to study independently complex and novel topics Proven ability to rapidly prototype software for study purposes Fluency in English Desirable Skills Prior experience with spacecraft missions or flight dynamics Experience with Fortran, C, Java, Mathematics, MATLABSIMULINK, TclTk Development of large software systems Astronomy Further Details The current position is for a deputy simulation officer on SWARM with a possible extension as a prime simulation officer on Galileo or Sentinels Closing Date for applications is 31 May 2013.
