For our Astrodynamics team in DarmstadtGermany we are looking for a Mission Analyst, to initially be based at our clients site in Darmstadt. Our Flight Dynamics team members perform all operational activities related to controlling the spacecraft orbit and attitude. As a Mission Analyst, your primary role will be supporting the HERA mission to the asteroid Didymos. As you progress in youre a career as a member of our astrodynamics team you may have the opportunity to become involved with the complete systems and operational lifecycle for the actual spacecraft operations, ranging from early capturing of requirements, to design, implementation and testing of the flight dynamics systems tools and finally with performing actual critical for example, launch and routine operations. Our Astrodynamics team members are usually involved in many satellite missions at the same time which means you combine development of new systems for upcoming missions with critical andor routine operations for active spacecraft CGI is one of Europes leading suppliers of Spacecraft Ground Segment Systems and related services and has recently been recognised as one of the top employers in Europe. Tasks As a Mission Analyst your main tasks will consist of Trajectory Optimisation for interplanetary transfer and the nearasteroid phase Navigation and Guidance, including Optical Navigation for Mission Analysis Concurrent Design Studies for space missions Mission Analysis Tools Development, environmental models, numerical integration techniques, local and global optimisation techniques and algorithms Support to project, scientists and industry, participation in reviews In the context of supporting flight dynamics you may be asked to fulfill the following mission operations tasks Setup and maintain the Flight Dynamics telemetry retrieving and postprocessing system based on SCOS2000 database. Monitor Spacecraft status and pointing performance. Verification of the Spacecraft navigation data against dynamics models. Detect and investigate spacecraft anomalies. Working together with the flight control team and industry experts to determine the root cause and analyze short term actions and long term solutions Perform regular flight sensor calibrations gyroscopes, accelerometers, star trackers to optimize their performance Support live critical operations as LEOP, orbit insertions or safe mode recovery. Provide orbit and attitude propagated events for mission planning. For future missions you may be asked to undertake the following mission development tasks Participate in System design review of future missions with spacecraft manufacturers. Use the operations experience to improve future designs. Analysis of mission requirements for the Flight Dynamics system. Development of tools and procedures for the efficient and effective fulfillment of the Flight Dynamics system requirements. Validation of the Flight Dynamics system through simulations and system tests. Further develop and maintain flight dynamics applications software. The work in Flight Dynamics is continuously changing, challenging and highly technical. The working environment is completely panEuropean and very dynamic. The working language is English. This position may involve periods of oncall support and occasional shift work. Qualifications The candidate for this role will have experience in Trajectory Optimisation, including the multibody problem Trajectories in proximity of minor bodies Navigation and Guidance techniques for Mission Analysis activities, Concurrent Design Studies for space missions, Use of and development of Mission Analysis Tools environmental models, Numerical integration techniques, local and global optimisation techniques and algorithms, Operational and ground segment Missionarchitecture design and its impact on the operational and ground segments, You will Hold a Masters degree or higher in Mathematics, Physics, Aerospace Engineering, Have an expert knowledge of Applied mathematics, classical mechanics and Astrodynamics, Have knowledge of spacecraft Attitude and Orbit Control Systems, sensors and actuators Have knowledge of Fortran, C, Python and UnixLinux scripting languages Be fluent in written and spoken English In addition experience with Linux, network services and protocols, and system administration would be an advantage.
