French competition body raids Apple, Tech Data, Ingram

2013-07-01 13:59:00| Telecompaper Headlines

(Telecompaper) Apple Stores in France and wholesalers such as Tech Data and Ingram Micro were raided during the last week of June by personnel from the finance ministry's competition and consumer affairs department, DGCCRF, to search for evidence of unfair trading practices, Les Echos and Mac4Ever report. The move which was confirmed by the regulator is part of a case brought by retailers who claim that Apple supplies its stores before those of its official resellers. One such company, eBizcuss, was Apple's biggest premium reseller before it went out of business last year and shut its fifteen stores. The competition authority aims to determine whether Apple instructed distributors to give preferential treatment to Apple Stores.
