(Telecompaper) Google is developing a version of Android that will be built directly into automobiles, Reuters reported, citing anonymous sources familiar with the plans. It plans to launch the system when it rolls out the next version of its operating, Android M, expected in a year or so. The technology will allow drivers to use the internet in the car without plugging in their smartphones. Google's current Android Auto software comes with the latest version of its smartphone operating system and requires a phone to be plugged into a compatible car with a built-in screen to access streaming music, maps and other apps. Google declined to comment.
