Airbus Group The Engineering technical unit for Data Processing OnBoard Software is a multinational group with sites in UK, France and Germany. The function of the technical unit is to provide a central competence that supports the evolving needs of the business, working on space systems, satellite platforms, payloads and equipment. As part of the UKs Data Processing OnBoard Software department, the successful candidate will part of a highly motivated and dynamic development group working at the centre of embedded software development for some of the most exciting Space missions currently under development, including ExoMars Rover, and Solar Orbiter. We are looking for a highly motivated engineer with good knowledge of the latest software principles. You need to be enthusiastic , passionate and eager to apply your excellent software engineering skills to the ever changing and exciting world of Space. Being at the forefront of Space exploration through working on the very latest Space missions provides a unique and challenging opportunity for you to contribute to, and make a difference, in one of the largest growing areas of scientific discovery. You will be provided extensive training both in the development processes of the company, and the Onboard software department as a whole, but we believe that you can only truly learn from the engineers around you, so you will be part of a project from day1. You will be supported by a mentoring and buddying system that allows you to rapidly come to terms with the real world workings of a programme. The department is involved in all aspects of the software lifecycle from requirements capture to acceptance and maintenance this offers you the opportunity to gain a truly holistic view of embedded software engineering while gaining invaluable experience in the expanding world embedded space solutions. The engineer will be expected to Take responsibility of Software development activities within Embedded Software development lifecycle specific roleactivity will depend on phase of project and experience. Manage their own time and agreed budgets in accordance with project and department requirements in order to secure an onquality, on cost, and ontime delivery of the Onboard software to the Project Programme. Particular involvement and responsibility as described in the following depending on project needs and individual skills Detailed software designs and realisation. Software unit testing. Integration and validation testing. Preparation of documentation required for the development and at key reviews e.g. PDR, CDR, QR Postdelivery project maintenance TechnicalITTools Experience Essential 21 or above in Software Systems EngineeringAerospace or a similar degree An understanding or some experience of the satellitespace or avionics industry and an enthusiasm to learn Good knowledge of the design methods e.g. UML Excellent written and verbal communication skills Desirable Knowledge andor practical experience of software engineering lifecycle process Knowledge or experience of using embedded operating systems RTOS Developing software to a recognised engineering process standard Other Experiencecompetencies soft skills Good presentation skills Strives for team individual goals Effective at working in a multidisciplinary team Proactive Ability to work under pressure Please apply for this vacancy on line at our careers site www.jobs.airbusgroup.com with your CV attached.
