Thorn SDS are seeking a candidate to provide Ground Segment System Monitoring Engineering Consultancy Support within the Technical Scientific Support department. Working within the System Engineering and Projects Division, as a member of the systems upgrades team, the key candidate will be primarily covering the system engineering aspects of the design and development activities for the Meteosat Third Generation MTG Ground Segment, with emphasis on the evolutions of the MultiMission Elements for MTG. Thorn SDS is an AUG registered business with a local bilingual English German support team in Darmstadt. We specialise in the supply of staff and services into the space and security sectors and are particularly interested in speaking to existing contractors at EUMETSAT that may be searching for a cost effective employment partner. The successful candidate will contribute to the analysis of requirements for the design and test of the MultiMission Elements for MTG and their integration with the other MTG ground segment elements. The MultiMission Elements are a set of facilities, tools and infrastructure that are operationally used by the existing programmes. These include, the UMARK Unified Meteorological Archive and Retrieval facility, the Dissemination facility, a set of monitoring tools GEMS, SMART and common infrastructure elements like the MultiMission network and the SNI Storage Network Infrastructure All applicants require a University degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline along with a minimum of 5 years experience in the following areas Full development cycle of systems, from the definition of requirements to system design and testing. Maintenance of operational ground systems, preferably for remote sensing spacecrafts System EngineeringAIT experience for the development of major upgradesnew ground systems in a 247 operational environment. Ground Segment Monitoring and Control systems Analysing and Reporting System architectural design with the support of modelling and design tools e.g. Enterprise Architect Definition, management and traceability of requirements structure with the support of dedicated tools e.g. DOORS In addition to these, a proven knowledge and experience in at least 2 of the following missions ground segment areas are mandatory Satellite Monitoring and Control Nearrealtime data processing Archive systems Nearreal time data dissemination Previous experience with Control process and tools and familiarity with the ECSS standards would be considered to be advantageous. The official language for this role is English, therefore candidates must have a good working knowledge of this language. A working knowledge of French andor German would be considered advantageous. All candidates applying for this position must be willing to undergo security clearance.
