Moreover, we actively manage your professional development, training and career progression. For the location in Darmstadt, Germany we are looking for a Ground Stations Engineer fm at Eumetsat. Tasks EUMETSATs Technical and Scientific Support TSS Department and in particular the System Engineering and Projects SEP Division is providing support to the development of new programmes. In this context, support is provided to the development of the Ground Segment for MTG Meteosat Third Generation, GMES Global Monitoring for Environment Security Sentinel 3, Jason CS, EPS SG EUMETSAT Polar System Second Generation, which will ensure continuity of service to the current operational programmes MSG and EPS at the end of their life. Within the System Engineering and Projects Division SEP, the Ground Stations Team GSt, composed of approximately 10 people, is responsible for all engineering activities of the Ground Stations allocated to the various programs within the various tasks, the GSt Team supports EUMETSATs Operations Department OPS, concerning the Ground Stations maintenance and evolution. The Key person shall work in the SEP Division of the TSS Department as a member of the Ground Stations Team GSt supporting MTP, MSG, EPS and Jason 2 Routine Operations as well as MTG operation preparation. The Key person shall perform the following tasks Investigation and rectification of anomalies reported by the operationsmaintenance team Interface with the maintenance services providers at a technical level Reporting on the performance of the Ground Stations and associated systems together with a status report of any ongoing activities Attendance at the relevant coordination meetings to plan and schedule Ground Station activities ensuring compliance with Operational activities and constraints Provision of Ground Stations support to operations during critical mission phases, pre and post launch i.e. SVT, LEOP, IOT and contingency Maintenance of operational Ground Stations procedures, databases and documentation in accordance with the configuration management and quality assurance practices Provision of technical support during the creation of maintenance agreements and contracts Assist with the preparation or evaluation of proposals for modificationsimprovements to the Ground Stations and associated equipment Planning and scheduling the implementation, testing and validation phases of any modificationsimprovements Essential requirements The Key person shall have, as mandatory, the following experience and background In addition to having a University degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline, the Key person shall have a minimum of 5 years experience in the Operations and Maintenance of Large Ground Stations andor Ground Stations EngineeringIntegration used for GEO andor LEO missions. The Key person shall have experience in the following area Ground Station design, integration and testing, particularly in the areas of Antenna, RF, Base Band and Tracking subsystems, including the generation of Requirement definition and ICD specifications Operation and configuration of various types of Baseband equipment including integrated TTC and ranging systems i.e. Cortex type and High Data Rate Modulators and Demodulators Maintenance and Operation of large Ground Stations particularly in Local and Remote MC including databases and automated procedures, redundancy management, Site Infrastructure and liaison with Service providers Analogue and digital modulationdemodulation schemes used on the Ground to Space interface for TTC, Mission data transmission and Data Collection Systems Execution of Spacecraft interface verification testing, prior to launch in support of the SVT, and post launch in the form of RF IOT as part of Spacecraft Commissioning The Key person should be used to working proactively within a small team, being able to work with the minimum of supervision. The variety of the tasks and the scope of the systems to be supported require a high degree of autonomy and good analytical skills. The ability to conduct all activities in an orderly and disciplined manner, and working calmly and correctly under stress, is essential. The key person shall have good communications skills, to allow the effective communication of information under a variety of circumstances with the operational team. Desirable skills In addition, the knowledge and experience of some of the following subjects would be considered as a distinct advantage Implementation of relevant ECSS standards and CCSDS recommendations concerning Space Link Services and Space Link Extension SLE protocols Commercial satellite and micro wave data links Basic knowledge of WAN, LAN and TCPIP protocol In Orbit Test I.O.T. systems deployment Other Information Fluency in English is mandatory Standby callout support and shift weekend work will be required occasionally Travel within Europe may be necessary Must be an EU national or possess a currently valid German Work Residence Permit Foreseen starting date is 01 January 2014 To guarantee that your application is processed, please apply via our website httpwww.scisys.dewhereweworkspacecareersspacejobs.html
