Were seeking an experienced Head of Navigation Systems Engineering to inspire Telespazio UKs growing team, developing systems, applications and services within position, navigation and timing PNT business domain, with a base in our Luton Head Office, with flexibility for remote working elsewhere in the UK. Objectives To continue developing, evolving our resilient PNT and hybrid alternative PNT strategy and agree with relevant stakeholders, foci for Telespazios Navigation strategy to support business, team, and product growth. To successfully win funding in line with the Navigation strategy. To lead and successfully deliver engineering projects in line with the Navigation strategy. Responsibilities Duties Duties and main tasks may include, but are not limited to Continue developing the Navigation strategy, focusing on the resilient and hybrid alternative PNT, for UK growth and agree with relevant stakeholders. Refine and update strategy in response to changing market conditions, e.g. funding for UK PNT programmes, ESA navigation programmes and GSA Horizon programmes Represent Telespazio at relevant UK industry meetings eg. TechUK UKSpace, PNTC, RIN. Work with colleagues in other parts of the business UK and abroad and Space Alliance to continue to develop strategic partnering for mutual business benefit. Develop interdependent partnering with relevant UK and foreign companies to win and to deliver UK, European and other business. To successfully win funding in line with the Navigation strategy. Seek opportunities where Telespazio can bid and win Navigationrelated and applicationsfocused work under ESA, European or UK funding lines. Seek opportunities to bid and win Navigation applications, product, and services work from commercial or other customers. Lead the Navigation team to create successful bids, drawing in other support as needed. To lead and successfully deliver engineering projects in line with the Navigation strategy. Lead the Navigation team to deliver relevant engineering projects, on time, on budget, and to an outstanding quality. Manage the Navigation team, seeking opportunities to grow the team and the capabilities and careers of the team Work with leading UK universities to exploit innovative research in the commercial market Potential Fields Downstream application activities may include Resilient PNT including augmentation services for critical applications such as CNI and autonomous systems Hybrid and alternative PNT systems including LEObased and terrestrial based systems High accuracy and high integrity GNSS applications Evolution of current mmlevel structural health monitoring product SUMMIT Upstream satellite activities may include Development of GNSS ground segment and user segment systems and operations for UK or European institutional customers Development of test and validation tools applicable to new GNSS needs. Qualifications Experience Recognised, or able to rapidly achieve recognition, as a leader of Navigation thinking in the UK. Familiar with UK Space Agency MoD IUK ESA GSA processes, bids and contracts Bid writing experience, preferably including multicompany bids either as Prime or Subcontractor Strong technical document, specification and report writing skills and experience Experienced system engineer including GNSS and wider Navigation systems experience Satellite systems or operations experience Awareness of UK SBPP, GPS, Galileo, security issues desirable Programming modelling, particularly GNSS and satellite simulationdesirable BSc or higher degree in engineering, science, maths or equivalent experience Essential Skills Team leadership ability to motivate and proactively delegate and manage team and partner organisations. Excellent networking skills, and experience of doing this within the navigation domain Ability to demonstrate integrity and engender trust in customers and partners Excellent clear, concise and structured written and verbal communication in English engineering topics Organised structured way of working Excellent IT skills including Microsoft office Qualities Ability to prioritise own and teams workload effectively Willing to take the initiative to progress agreed strategies Professional, logical and thorough UK or Five Eyes National for reasons of security clearance on UK national programmes UK Driving license desirable SC Clearance desirable
