IMD Measurements Using Dual Source And Multiple Source Control

Intermodulation distortion (IMD) is extremely important when it comes to designing microwave and RF components. Two-tone testing, a common technique for testing IMD, is used to characterize the non-linearity of active and passive microwave and RF components over a long period of time. Using traditional signal generators and spectrum analyzers to perform these tests can be an extremely time consuming process. A much quicker and more accurate technique for measurement includes the use of the Anritsu VectorStar MS4640B Series Vector Network Analyzer.
