This is an opportunity for an experienced engineer to work in the domain of satellite image and data processing. This position is based in Germany, Darmstadt. Instrument Data Processing Algorithms Software Engineer J2712 This engineer will support our customer EUMETSAT in the maintenance and further development of the Meteosat Second Generation MSG Image Processing Facility IMPF in particular, the algorithm and data processing aspects of the IMPF software. Also heshe will support development activities on other programs like MTG or EPS INR Processing.Primarily these development activities will focus on the Image Navigation and Registration processing, which is part of the mission instrument data processing. Both online and offline functions development are part of these activities. Responsibilities Duties MSG Operations Support Developing an expert knowledge of the MSG Image Processing System Investigating anomalies in the MSG Image Processing System Specifying modifications to the MSG Image Processing System Implementing modifications to the MSG Image Processing System Verifying and validating modifications to the MSG Image Processing System Updating the design and user documentation for the MSG Image Processing System MTG Development Support Reviewing, analyzing and anomaly investigation of MTG instrument data processing software from procurements Supporting the integration, verification and validation of MTG instrument data processing deliveries Supporting the development of a MTG reference processor at EUMETSAT Prototyping selected instrument data processing algorithms EPSSG Development Support Reviewing, analyzing and anomaly investigation of EPSSG instrument data processing software from procurements Supporting the integration, verification and validation of EPSSG instrument data processing deliveries Prototyping selected instrument data processing algorithms Qualification Experience University degree in the domain of engineering, physics, remote sensing, or equivalent. Several years of experience in the field of implementation of numerical algorithms in imagedata processing. Essential Skills Implementation of numerical algorithms, ideally in an image processing context Objectoriented system design C programming Programming and operations under UNIX Fluency in English French is a plus Desirable Skills Realtime image processing of large volumes of data. Geometric correction navigation registration of satellite images Radiometric correction calibration of satellite images Performance optimisation of algorithms.
