Java Software Engineer

This position, in a scientific organisation based near Munich in Germany, calls for at least three years experience of Java across the full software development life cycle. The main working language is English. The role will embrace the development, deployment and maintenance of various software tools supporting the full life cycle of science operations. These tools include a user portal, project lifecycle management, webbased collaboration tools for observing project review, rating and tracking, a quality assurance tool and a log tool to capture all activities. An agile, featuredriven development process will apply. The key experience and attributes sought are Software development in Java Interfacing Java to relational databases within highlevel frameworks JDBC, Hibernate, Spring Developing Java webbased applications servlets, JSPs Developing JavaScript singlepage applications Angular JS, jQuery Modern software engineering practices and tools, including configuration control tools, incremental and iterative development, unit and integration testing and the Linux environment Excellent command of the English language very good oral and written communication skills Knowledge of some of the following would be advantageous Experience in desktop GUI programming Swing, SWTJFace, JavaFX Familiarity with UnixLinux build tools Makefile, Ant, Maven Candidates should possess a University degree or equivalent. This is a freelance contract assignment with an initial period of 3 years starting in July 2015 with an option to extend for a further two years. Occasional travel within Europe and further afield is likely to be required.
