(Telecompaper) German cable network operator Kabel Deutschland has started a market test of up to 200 Mbps superfast broadband in Mainz. This is double the previous highest available speed of 100 Mbps. Cable households in Mainz can now book the new 'Internet & Telefon 200' product, which is targeted at heavy users, or households with several internet users and many devices accessing bandwidth-intensive online applications. The package also offers upload speeds of up to 12 Mbps. New customers in Mainz can get the product for EUR 39.90 per month in the first year, rising to EUR 59.90 per month thereafter. Customers must sign a minimum 24-month contract. The plan also includes a phone connection with flat-rate for calls to the German fixed-line network.
