L1 L2 Processor Engineer Deadline for applications 24032021 Client and Location The European Space Agency is ATGs biggest client. Job Description On behalf of the European Space Agency ESA, we are looking for a L1 L2 Processor Engineer for their location in Noordwijk, the Netherlands, to join their Ground System Def. Verific. Office. Please note this is an external consultant position not a Staff position. Tasks and Responsibilities To be the Project responsible for the simulatorL1L2 processors Manage the development of the simulatorL1L2 processor follow the daytoday activity, review progress reporting, attend and followup progress meetings Implement the Anomaly Review process organise Anomaly Review Boards, Maintain Anomaly Tracking records, Followup action items Accept new simulatorL1L2 software by installing with help of IT support, reviewing associated documentation Run simulatorL1L2 software in house For acceptance To cross check Industrys performance budgets For background engineering To generate test data for internal use, if needed. Support the development of the L2 processor Accept new L2 software with help of IT support for installing Reviewassess associated documentation Attend and followup progress meetings Implement the Anomaly Review process Run the L2 standalone software For acceptance, To generate test data for internal use, if needed. Support the Project for performance related issues Following of instrument Contractors work on ground processing and algorithms Evaluation of instrument Contractors mission error budgets and modelling Translation of instrument characteristics to mission level Review the instrument Flight Operation Manuals for relevant volumessections. Support the instrument CALVAL campaign Support the revision of the CalVal plan Support the preparation phase Support the CalVal after Launch Support the Project in general terms Support the Project Scientist Support the system verification process Attend weekly team meetings Report to the team and flag potential issues. Requirements Masters degree or equivalent qualification in Physics or Engineering with minimum 4 years of relevant experience Extended knowledge of the Earth Observation payload data ground segment, including processes such as calibration, monitoring routine data processing processors and facilities interactions with other stakeholders FOS, end users Extended knowledge of data analysisprocessing statistics, error budgets simulations data tools such as Mathlab Working knowledge on instrument remote sensing techniques, with a focus on optical systems transmissions, backscatter, extinction processing algorithms detectors The tasks will be initially for the EarthCare and Aeolus missions, therefore working knowledge of LIDAR technology is a major asset Since Aeolus is in orbit, handson experience of inflight performance verification is an asset Good knowledge of computer environment and languages Linux, GNU compilers, Matlab, IDL, scripting such as python, shell scripts, perl Affinity with numerical weather prediction is an advantage Good level of autonomy and organizing skills are desired Fluent in the English language spoken and written knowledge of other languages is an asset.
