The next few years will see the exciting realisation of business opportunities on Inmarsats existing fleet of 10 satellites, as well as the launch of Alphasat a joint venture with the European Space Agency and our 1.2 billion next generation satellites and services Global Xpress. Primary purpose of role LTAC is a new LBand lease service for governmental customers that Inmarsat has developed during 2013. LTAC has now just been launched into service following an extensive worldwide marketing campaign. We are now entering a phase where we must process customer applications for this service and configure the satellites to support the service to ensure we can assist in customer line up testing and anomaly investigations. This exciting opportunity is for a full time Engineer to support this service, liaising with frequency planners to arrange satellite resource allocation and the Network Operations Centre NOC to address monitoring and operational issues. The opportunity also involves liaising directly with customers and end users of the service on technical and operational issues. In addition to this liaison and Engineering role, the Engineer will routinely monitor service performance to ensure a high quality service is provided to all users of the system. The role will provide on call support for end user problems that are escalated to the Lease Engineering team by the NOC. As part of a small Lease Engineering team the Engineer will be expected to work on other Inmarsat lease activities as and when required as well as leading the LTAC service. The role is part of one of the biggest and fastest growing business units. Key responsibilities Process all LTAC lease applications received from different business units, maintaining clear records of all applications and deadlines. Work with the frequency and resource planners, to ensure that adequate resources are available to support LTAC leases. Prepare the NOC tasking order and customer lease authorisation documentation in support of each approved lease. Liaise with the NOC and the end customer to perform end to end benchmarking tests when a new lease is brought into operation. Liaise with the contracts and billing departments over LTAC issues. Provide third line technical support to customers, dealing with performance issues escalated to Lease Engineering by the NOC. Develop and document operational procedures for use by the NOC and other departments. Essential knowledge and skills Strong verbal and written communications skills along with a background in an operational environment would be useful. University degree level education or equivalent in Engineering with appropriate Radio Frequency RF, modulation and communications theory components. A selfstarter who can prioritise and manage multiple tasks efficiently and effectively as well as managing those under their control Excellent interpersonal skills Ability to prioritise the most important activities Ability to communicate effectively with staff at all levels Familiarity with MS office suite of software Ability to work effectively within a fast paced environment Desirable knowledge and skills Experience in an operations environment. Familiarityexperience of communications monitoring systems and spectrum analysers. Good understanding of Inmarsat services.
