(Telecompaper) Liberty Global is struggling to reach agreement with Vodafone Group about an exchange or combination of assets. Liberty Global CEO John Malone told Bloomberg in a phone interview that they had not been able to agree a deal that was mutually successful. Liberty and Vodafone have been in talks since June about combining some of their businesses in Europe. Malone said there had been no proposed structure for a deal that either group could present to shareholders. However, he added that this did not mean that they would not reach an agreement. Any deal between the groups will involve intense anti-trust scrutiny, and Deutsche Telekom already said it would oppose any merger between Vodafone and Liberty in the German market.
