Los Angeles Daily New: City Councilman Paul Koretz introduced a motion Friday that aims to reduce the citys carbon footprint by 80 percent come 2050 by speeding up the citys transition from coal to renewable energy sources and by adding more solar rooftops, park trees and clean-burning garbage trucks.
The ambitious proposal to curb greenhouse gases causing global climate change is expected to be voted on by the City Council in early September, said Andy Shrader, Koretzs aide on environmental policy.
