For our activities in ESAC, we are currently looking for two MAPPS Software Engineers. Tasks and Responsibilities The MAPPS Mission Analysis and Payload Planning System software is a wellestablished tool in support of the Science Operations Centres SOCs of the ESA Solar System missions. The MAPPS software provides a wide range of planning and simulation features, used in the different phases of the planning process for the scientific experiments and the consolidation and conflict resolution of the overall experiments planning. As MAPPS Software Engineer you will provide software support to contribute to the maintenance and further evolution of the MAPPS software, as well as provide firstline support to the SOCs mission planners and scientific users. Tasks include Implementation of new MAPPS features as defined by the users of the different Solar System missions, following the priorities set by the MAPPS SRB Software Review Board Providing the MAPPS software deliveries following the existing maintenance and release procedures. Improving these procedures where needed, also considering the long lifetime of the software Verification and validation of the software and execution of the test procedures. Further evolution of the test software, e.g. extending the test cases to cover new features and improving the level of automation Provide firstline user support, e.g. helping the user configuring and using any new features, analysing potential bugs and providing fixes. You will have the following tasks and responsibilities Providing the MAPPS software deliveries following the existing maintenance and release procedures. Improving these procedures where needed also considering the long lifetime of the software Verification and validation of the software and execution of the test procedures. Further evolution of the test software, e.g. extending the test cases to cover new features and improving the level of automation Implementation of new MAPPS features, in the area of the Graphical User Interface, and in backend processing software System and software engineering tasks such as design, development, testing installation, deployment, operations, maintenance with associated documentation according to the ESA software engineering processes Daily execution of the software development and maintenance tasks, including the monitoring of the progress and the reporting to management. Coordination various development efforts, such that these fit into the overall MAPPS architecture, following the strategy imposed by the MAPPS engineering board Furthermore, participation to working groups, workshops, conferences and meetings where might be required. Requirements As successful candidate you should bring an Engineering PhD or Master Degree in computer Science or related fields, at least 4 years of professional experience and the following specific knowledge Software engineering and objectoriented programming Programming languages CC, others Graphical User Interface programming Qt toolkit, others Java and or Python for GUI desirable Software Engineering Standards, such as ECSSEST40C Software bug reporting systems, specifically JIRA or others Software versioning systems, specifically GIT or others Windows and Linux, others Experience with operational software development will be an advantage Linux and PCWindows environment Experience on ESA software engineering processes and software configuration control tools and some scientific background would be an asset.
