httpwww.telespaziovega.comcareersvacanciesj2737.aspx Summary A rare opportunity for an experienced engineer to support ESA in their material physical and chemical laboratory investigations. Objective Amongst other tasks, the engineer will develop new test methods and procedures related to the analysis of outgassing tests and performing advanced data treatments coming from so called VBQC tests. Responsibilities Duties To set up and operate the microbalance systems to determine the outgassing properties of materials socalled VBQC systems Performance of tasks related to the assessment of particulate contamination either airborne or in fluids using the Particle Fall Out PFO method, automatic particle counting, or other adhoc test methods To develop new test methods and procedures related to chemical analyses in the field of offgassing and outgassing and contamination engineering. This includes GPC, GCMS, LCMS, HPLC, IR spectroscopy To design, to setup, to perform and to monitor non standard tests to meet space project requirements focussing on outgassing assessment To modify test facilities if and as required by mission environments To investigate chemical interactions related to materials and induced environment such as but not limited to contact with propellants, waste products Assist in the design and validation procedure and loading of a material database covering all disciplines performed by the section outgassing, offgassing, thermooptical properties, thermal characterisation, serving as a data repository for internal and external use with focus on outgassing data Improve materials and outgassing modelling capabilities within the section based on standard software packages or to be developed software Assisting general materials processes reviews as requested with a focus on cleanliness and contamination control Producing clear and professional reports. Qualifications Experience University degree or equivalent in Engineering or Physics Directly relevant industrial experience is needed for this post. Several years of experience in material physical and chemical laboratory investigations Essential Skills Familiarity with data acquisition systems and SW e.g. LABVIEW. Familiarity with database SW Familiarity with materials modelling software Fluent in English spoken and written Further Details All roles within Telespazio VEGA have a defined closing date, however if a successful candidate is found before the advert expires the role will be closed early.
