Our technical excellence and extensive prime contractorship experience extend across all sectors of the space business launch vehicles, manned space activities, satellite systems and related services. A vacancy has arisen for a Mechanisms Engineer with Astrium in Stevenage. The successful applicant will be the central interface for all technical issues raised concerning the equipment. The Mechanisms Engineer is responsible for all technical aspects of the procurement, build and test activities and is the technical lead for all development and qualification activities on the equipment. The key responsibilities of the role are as follows Detailed mechanism design, development and verification activities under limited supervision Continued development of knowledge of mechanism design and verification Some delegation and supervision of junior engineers Develop and maintain good customer working relationships Assist in preparation of technical elements for bids and proposals Support other Astrium departments on studies e.g. ENS and ESA Phase A studies Authoring of clear and concise technical reports, demonstrating a clear understanding of mechanism design Contribute to work packages to ensure tasksactivities are completed on time and on cost and on quality Support project responsible engineer during qualification and acceptance verification and validation. The successful candidate will demonstrate the following skills and experience A degree or equivalent in a mechanical engineering discipline Experience of designing complex mechanisms A sound working knowledge of motors, tribology and materials Hands on design experience of 3D CAD tools and other engineering tools Show a solid understanding of mechanism verification and validation TO APPLY click here
