For our activities in ESTEC, we are currently looking for a Metrology and Calibration Engineer. Main responsibilities The candidate is responsible to provide engineering support to the Metrology Laboratory of the Testing Division in ESTEC. The candidate has the following duties support the daily activities of the Metrology Laboratory provide metrology support to the ESTEC Test Centre customers, the ESA projects and the ESTEC laboratories provide engineering support and specifically metrology support for investment and maintenance activities of the ESTEC Test Centre assuring proper maintenance of laboratory instrumentation and of the ISO 17025 quality system support the ESA internal research and development activities assuring a proper presentation of the Metrology Laboratory activities and plans to the Head of the Engineering Services Section of the Testing Division. Applicants shall be able to work on a selfstanding base and provide flexibility and enthusiasm for the performed tasks. The postholder shall focus on providing a continuous improvement of the working environment, effectively liaising with colleagues and keeping up to date the technical knowhow of the Metrology laboratory. Ideal candidate Applicants for this post should have a Masters degree or equivalent qualification in Aerospace or Mechanical engineering with specialisation preferably in Geodesy with a minimum of 23 years experience in metrology applications for satellite testing. In addition, the ideal candidate shall have good comprehension of related technologies and engineering domains like electromechanical systems, optomechanical engineering, thermal engineering and vacuum systems. have former experience in the operation of test instrumentation like coordinate measuring machines, autocollimation theodolites, laser tracker, autocollimator, roughness tester, roundness tester, photogrammetry systems, linear laser interferometer, extensometers, IR cameras, data acquisition systems, and other sensors and metrology equipment. prove their capability to liaise with ESA internal and industrial external test customers and have demonstrated ability to work in a team. have good knowledge of English language. Some knowledge of Dutch is desired for liaison with local suppliers The following skills would considered an asset for this position Previous experience with maintenance of laboratory instrumentation and with the ISO 17025 quality system. Experience in any of the following software PCDMIS CAD, Spatial Analyzer, MCOSMOS2, National Instruments LabVIEW, Matlab, Wyler Levelsoft, Mitutoyo SurfpakSV, GUM Workbench Pro, CATIA V5, LightTools, ResearchIR, Fovex 3D Application procedure All applicants must hold a current valid work permit for the Netherlands or be EU EEA nationals.
