Responsibilities Research into, and development of, debris removal platforms or concepts from a technical and systems perspective. Construct different engineering product and service lines and tradeoff requirements, CONOPS, key drivers and systems architectures to rapidly establish baselines. Understand both requirements and CONOPS across multiple Astroscale service offerings and facilitate harmonisation across product lines. Assist with future technology strategy in the development of roadmaps and plans. Assist with bid work, providing technical solutions and documentation. Highly Desirable Experience and Qualifications 5 to 10 years experience in systems engineering or research actively applied to real satellite missions or conceptual mission studies. Experience in the systems and project engineering lifecycle from requirements definition through to verification. Experience in mission and systems architecture definition and CONOPS, especially understanding of both space and ground segment interaction. Experience in phase0 or phaseA feasibility studies in satellite engineering where many solutions may be traded off in a rapid timeframe. Good knowledge of a range of subsystems engineering teams including GNC AOCS, ADCS, astrodynamics, CDH OBDH, EPS, RCS propulsion, COM communications, software, ground segment operations. A broad understanding across many different technologies and capabilities. An understanding of industrial or academic research techniques. A basic knowledge in the following areas debris removal, endoflife, inorbit maintenance or servicing. Useful Experience and Qualifications Masters degree in systems, electrical, aerospacemechanical, controls engineering. An extended knowledge of the area around debris removal including licensing, export, regulation, space law. An extended knowledge in the area around past missions of relevance RemoveDebris, CleanSpace ESA projects e.g. e.DeOrbit, DEOS, ATV, ETS7 Useful to have basic or working knowledge of Japanese, but not necessary the working language of ASTROSCALE is English, but Japanese is a useful addition for communications with some ASJ staff. Interfacing with staff from many different countries and cultures, collaborating with other system engineers and researchers.
