More food, car spending lifts Nevada sales numbers

State officials say Nevada's taxable sales rose nearly 5 percent in October compared with the same month a year ago, largely thanks to more spending at restaurants and car dealerships. The Nevada Department of Taxation reported Monday that taxable sales totaled $4.1 billion.
