It employs some 40,000 employees generating revenues of approximately 14 billion per year. A vacancy has arisen for an OnBoard Software Senior Engineer with Airbus Defence and Space in Stevenage. This position is specifically to fill a Senior level software development engineering role. In general the engineer is expected to Primarily taking responsibility of Software development activities within Embedded Software development lifecycle specific roleactivity will depend on phase of project and experience. Manage their own time and agreed budgets in accordance with project and department requirements in order to secure an onquality, on cost, and ontime delivery of the Onboard software to the Project Programme. The software developed by the Department is of an embedded real time nature. Software is deployed within the Satellite, and Satellite Instrumentation, to provide the required Functionality and Control Designed using UML methodology Implemented in the ANSIC language Contain a number of hardware interface drivers and incorporate the use of a Realtime Operating System. Its application elements would normally include Telemetry Telecommand communications Attitude and Orbit Control Systems Platform system management power, thermal etc. Mode control Payload control and management And Health MonitoringRecoveryReporting. The successful candidate will be subject to security clearance in order to undertake related work in accordance with business needs. Your main tasks and responsibilities will include Specification of software requirements. Definition of the onboard software architecture. Detailed software designs and realisation. Software unit testing. Integration and validation testing. Preparation of documentation required for the development and at key reviews e.g. SRR, PDR, CDR, QR and participationleading as appropriate in those reviews. Supporting the synthesis of relevant software budgets. Support Software Project Manager on scheduling. Postdelivery project maintenance Participate in ongoing implementation of transnational harmonisation of software tools, methods processes, or improvement actions. We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience Realtime embedded engineering or relevant degree thesis. Previous experience in an OnBoard Software engineering domain or closely affiliated critical software domain Experience in the satellitespace or avionics industry is highly desirable Proven experience of software verification and validation Experience and excellent understanding of embedded realtime systemssoftware engineering and software engineering lifecycle process SW development toolsenvironment Eclipse Cygwin Clearcase Clearquest Reqtify DOORS Vectorcast Doxygen Logiscope, Practical experience of the embedded Operating Systems RTOS, Practical experience of using UNIX, Linux operating systems, Proven experience in developing software using ANSIC and Java, Practical experience of script languages Shell, Perl, Tcl, bash etc, Use of requirements capture tools e.g. DOORS, Excellent ability to understand Customer requirements and translate these into specific software requirements ECSS software engineering standards HWSW lolevel interfaces drivers embedded software development Fluent level in English.
