RHEA Group is currently recruiting an Onboard Validation Software Engineer to support the Software Development Project team at our clients premises in Stevenage, UK. Tasks and Activities The scope of work will include Understanding detailed functional requirements on complex embedded software, both existing requirements and enhancements to be introduced in order to meet evolving users needs. Elaboration of adequate test strategies sufficiently thorough but not overengineered to demonstrate the softwares fulfilment of functional requirements. Traceability of test steps to functional requirements. Mastery of test environment simulated spacecraft hardware and operations environment. Understanding the embedded softwares command control interface telecommands and its status and event reporting telemetry packets. Anomaly investigation, including liaison with software designers and requirements authors. Inspection of peers test procedures versus applicable technical and process requirements. Configuration administration of updated test software and results. Progress reporting. Skills and Experience The following skills and experience are mandatory Engineering degree in software, computer science or similar Excellent experience of Realtime embedded software engineering lifecycle process. Min. 5years work experience in realtime embedded Software engineering domains design, codetest, integration, validation Java programming min. 2 years professional experience C coding Linux scripting skills Software process oriented. Disciplined quality mindset onquality, onschedule, oncost Excellent software problem solving skills diagnostic approach solutionoriented Good communication skills in English verbal written in a multidisciplinary team Results oriented Strives for team individual goals Able to work with minimum supervision Proactive approach selflessness and flexibility Excellent experience of large, complex embedded realtime systemssoftware engineering design, code, test. Excellent knowledge of RTOS for realtime embedded systems hard deadline, multitasking. Formal software development validation, including expertise on requirements traceability. Production of detailed test specifications. Mastery of development test environments simulators, IDEs, Cygwin, Doors and similar. Configuration management using ClearCase, CVS or similar Change tracking with ClearQuest, Bugzilla or similar Experience in the satellitespace, avionics, automotive, telecoms or similar industry. The following skills would be highly desirable Previous experience using satellite platform control software Spacecraft systems engineering knowledge electrical systems thermal sensors actuators propulsion technology navigation sensors, algorithms and instruments other instruments ERC32 LEON SPARC processor. MILSTD 1553B and spacewire communication. Data transport packet protocols CCSDS. ECSS software engineering standards Q80B, E40. Previous experience with Astrium onboard software processes.
