Post Platform Engineer This post is classified A2A4 on the Coordinated Organisations salary scale. Location ESTEC, Noordwijk, The Netherlands Description Platform Engineer in the QKDSat Project, Telecommunications Satellite Programmes Department, Directorate of Telecommunications and Integrated Applications. Duties Reporting to the QKDSat project manager, the postholder is responsible for monitoring the performance and engineering aspects of the QKD satellite platform within the poject. Tasks include monitoring in partnership with the satellite operator the satellite design, development, integration and testing, including interfaces and accommodation to ensure it meets satellite and platform requirements except payload performances monitoring the coherent and costeffective implementation of satellite and platform requirements from system level down to lower application level maintaining the necessary satellite budgets to ensure continuous tracking of the compliance with mission requirements monitoring platform design and procurement activities including interfaces with payloads to ensure correct implementation of platform requirements monitoring development of all validation models such as the ATB and Satellite QM monitoring development of the necessary MGSEEGSE to perform satellite integration and test activities coordinating with the operator and industry the definition, preparation and execution of platform and satellite level tests including environmental TVAC, mechanical and inorbit planning and coordinating necessary specialist technical support from other Directorates as required for platform work to progress coordinating inputs for preparation of the operational procedures supporting satellite, platform and lowerlevel reviews as well as endtoend system level reviews identifying potential risks associated with satellite and platform activities proposing appropriate mitigation measures monitoring the schedule for satellite level activities, identifying potential associated risks and proposing appropriate mitigation measures regular reporting to the QKDSat Project Manager. Technical competencies Multidisciplinary knowledge of area of responsibility Knowledge of industrial costs and schedule aspects Knowledge of other technical domains with interfaces to own area of responsibility Knowledge of ESA and industrial development, verification and procurement processes ESA Space systems development, verification and review processes and standards Systems engineering Behavioural competencies Relationship Management Problem Solving Results Orientation Self Motivation Communication Teamwork Education Applicants should have a Masters degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant engineering discipline. Additional requirements Direct experience in the development of satellite platforms, preferably with a background in avionics, in industry and at ESA is considered an asset. A good knowledge of one of these is required. Knowledge of another Member State language would be an asset. The Agency may require applicants to undergo selection tests.
