SATURN Satellite Networks UK is looking to recruit key personnel for a new satellite manufacture in the UK which will disrupt the existing satellite communications market. Power Subsystem Engineer Description Based at our new stateoftheart facilities in the UK, Saturn satellite manufacturing will be producing compact communications satellites 200Kg500Kg for Geostationary, MidEarth Orbit and LowEarth orbit systems for export around the world. Our unique payload of shaped antenna systems and programmable digital processor will allow full communications services to be provided inorbit at a costpoint which is a fraction of the cost of traditional communications satellites. To carry the communications payload we will be producing a new spacecraft platform in the UK, and utilising the latest techniques in automated engineering. We are therefore seeking the highest calibre individuals to join our platform design and manufacturing team. More than just technical competence we are looking for people with commitment and ambition. Position Summary The Power subsystem engineer will be responsible for all aspects spacecraft power subsystem and power distribution to other equipments The Power subsystem engineer will be responsible for the definition and procurement of the solar arrays, including SADM if necessary, batteries and power distribution units The Power subsystem engineer will be responsible for the primary and secondary power definitions and the overall spacecraft power budget. Responsibilities Define the Primary and Secondary power distribution system for the spacecraft, including any power dumping. Define the solar array specification, power rating and electrical interfacing Define the power interface for the Solar Array Drive mechanism SADM if necessary Define the battery and associated storage capabilities Work with the OBC and data handling engineer to define any secondary power interfaces to be provided by the OBC to the onboard equipments Work with the payload manufacturing team to ensure power interfaces to the payload Liaise with the Program Manager for the procurement of commercial power distribution unit, solar array, SADM and battery Support the Lead Platform design Engineer on all aspects of the platform design pertaining to power handling and harness connections Liaise with the Propulsion engineers for propulsion control power interfaces Liaise with the AOCS engineer for power distribution to AOCS equipments. Work together with the Program manager to define the power EGSE electrical support equipment for AIV testing Produce the spacecraft power budget Produce the power schematic as input to harness production Ensure that all platform program documentation for the Power subsystem ICDs, diagrams, budgets etc. is produced. Qualifications and experience Minimum of 2 years professional experience in spacecraft onboard power subsystem definition and implementation preferably on platform systems. Strong knowledge of power units including solar arrays, batteries and distribution systems. Ability and willingness to include latest generation processes and techniques for manufacturing Strong written and verbal communications skills Strong technical background and proven program history Ability to produce spacecraft budgets and specifications Eligible to work in the UK UK security clearance may be sought
