Responsibilities Taking full responsibility for the design of a satellite on a complex engineering mission consisting of a range of project staff. Over time coordinating the development of satellite missions, mission concept studies, technical projects or nontechnical projects as required. Delivering a project and associated deliverables, trading off quality, cost, schedule, and risk. Utilising staff as necessary to achieve the project objectives. Planning for review gates and producing or managing production of all necessary project plans and documentation. Maintaining configuration control of work and documentation. Working with business staff to liaise with customers and understanding their needs. Periodic reporting to senior company staff and executive management where necessary. Highly Desirable Experience and Qualifications Several years experience in project management actively applied to real satellite missions. Understanding the project and systems engineering lifecycle from requirements definition through to verification, including experience of leading or planning for project gates in satellite engineering e.g. SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR, FRR etc. Broad experience of managing systems engineers and their role through mission and systems architecture and CONOPS definition. Good knowledge of how a range of subsystems engineering teams work, including GNC AOCS, ADCS, astrodynamics, CDH OBDH, EPS, RCS propulsion, COM communications, software, ground segment operations. Experience in the development of project documentation with systems engineers as needed requirements, CONOPS, review gate materials, test and verification plans procedures, DDVP, ICDs, equipment lists, FMECA FTAs Knowledge of the MAIT process manufacture, assembly, functional and environmental testing. Knowledge of satellite part procurement. Understanding of lean small satellite processes and working styles. A basic knowledge in the following areas debris removal, endoflife, inorbit maintenance or servicing. Useful Experience and Qualifications Masters degree in a technical, business or management field. A clear understanding of process, with some knowledge of large satellite company or agency design principles e.g. ECSS. An understanding of, or experience in other project matters bid support, business support, finances, quality assurance QA, product assurance PA. An extended knowledge of the area around debris removal including licensing, export, regulation, space law. An extended knowledge in the area around past missions of relevance RemoveDebris, CleanSpace ESA projects e.g. e.DeOrbit, DEOS, ATV, ETS7 Useful to have basic or working knowledge of Japanese, but not necessary the working language of ASTROSCALE is English, but Japanese is a useful addition for communications with some ASJ staff. Interfacing with staff from many different countries and cultures, collaborating with other project managers.
