RF Avionics Design Engineer Location Inverness Forres UK Travel Occasional within Europe Salary CompetitiveNegotiable including relocation assistance and equity options Start date March 2019 ASAP Orbex is a new European space launch company with backing from several of Europes largest venture capital investors and space agency funding. We are recruiting an experienced RF Engineer for an exciting spaceflight development role based in Forres near Inverness, at our new engineering and manufacturing centre. We are seeking a motivated, experienced RF Design Engineer, ideally with space segment experience, to work on the design of RF systems launch vehicle and ground. You will be responsible for RF systems design, parts selection, procurement and testing, as well as frequency band license coordination. Previous experience with antenna systems design, implementation and characterization is considered essential. You will probably be a highly experienced RF engineer, working in an environment that rarely gives you a chance to see your work in action. You will be eager for a fastpaced opportunity that offers exceptional freedom and responsibility, as well as the chance to create a critical component of a European space launch vehicle. Responsibilities of the RF Avionics Design Engineer All levels of RF hardware design, from system to detailed level. The launch vehicle will include several radio transmitters and receivers, covering command uplink, telemetry downlink, video downlink, and GNSS reception. Frequency band selection, link budgets, and licence applications to governing authorities. Interfacing with external radio ground stations operators, to ensure compatibility between their and our systems. Procurement and testing of transmitters and receivers LV and ground Design of custom antennas for relevant launch vehicle frequency bands, to match the vehicle body and accommodate ground system view factors during flight. From concept to simulation, prototyping and performance verification at external test facilities. Requirements Minimum of a bachelors degree in aerospace engineering or a related field 48 years of RF systems design and development experience Fluency in use of Ansys HFSS or similar industry standard toolchains to design, model and analyse antenna systems Handson experience with RF system design, development and testing.
